HIP Summer Camp 2022
Officials at Hazleton One Community Center announced the center’s weekly summer program in collaboration with Pathways to Recovery will be held July 5-29. The camp is for students entering first through sixth grades. Each week of the program is theme orientated and students sign up for an entire week at a time. Each theme lasts one week.
The first week’s theme is “Everyday Hero Week,” looking at what it takes to be an everyday hero. The second week’s theme is “Inside, Outside, Upside Down” week. This week is for those who like science, who are curious, have great imaginations and like to create interesting and useful things. The third week is “Artful Antics Week.” Art can take many forms and campers attending this week need to come with their imagination. The fourth week is “Around the World.” For those who like learning about our world, oceans, animals, big states, little states, then this camp is for you.
On the final day, the annual Fair Day will be held. Camp is held each day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the students investigating a different topic relating to the theme throughout the week. Activities will include projects, reading, games and activities to bring the topic to life in an enriching manner.
Lunch is provided each day. Following lunch, students select from a variety of individual clubs, such as soccer, arts and crafts, sign language, gym fun, theater, Zumba, karate, Lego madness, chess, volleyball, jamboree, clay animation, painting and much more.
This summer program is under the direction of Deb Mills, Ph.D., Maria Aliaga, education director, Deb Telatovich, HIP art therapist, and Elaine Maddon Curry, HIP program director.
