Two summer interns for HIP Summer Season 2022
Richermy, was under the direction of HIP’s Executive Director, Rossanna Gabriel. Her responsibilities included, shadowing HIP’s Executive Director, attend meetings and community events and participate in other activities as directed. Richermy gained valuable knowledge in the inner workings of a nonprofit, its mission, and its role within the community.
Richermy first participated in HIP programs, as a second grader and when she got older as a volunteer. She was selected as the President of the Hazleton Area School District Graduating Class, where she graduated from in May 2021. She is now a sophomore in college at East Stroudsburg University, majoring in Political Science in the field of Public Administration. When she is not engaged in schoolwork, she is a Resident Adviser for the university. Richermy is also a model and participates in pageantry competitions. She hopes to work for the Environmental Protection Agency upon graduation while also chasing her dream of becoming Miss USA.
Amy is a summer intern working at HIP in conjunction with Swarthmore College. She is a graduate of the Hazleton Area, Class of 2016, and is currently completing her studies in the field of Education; specializing in English Literature and Psychology. She is scheduled to graduate from Swarthmore in May 2023. Amy hopes to further her studies in graduate school and ultimately work in the education sector.
Amy, is an honor graduate from Luzerne County Community College with a degree in psychology. Amy served as a teacher in the HIP afterschool program prior to attending Swarthmore College. As a HIP summer intern, Amy worked with our education team to help develop a balanced summer camp curriculum and participated in camp activities. Amy also teaches literacy classes.
