Eat Healthy Mural 2023

HIP’s Eradicating Food Insecurity (EFI)“Eat Healthy” mural

The “Eat Healthy” Mural is a part of HIP’s Eradicating Food Insecurity (EFI) initiative. Inspired by the national healthy plate food model; an amalgamation of vibrant and whimsical food illustrations—fruit, grains, veggies, protein, and dairy—are enveloped under a custom designed sun-plate-ray sky.  The rays also act as conceptual visual-play by melding into sunflowers.  An eclectic mix of food was realistically painted—some juxtaposed with anthropomorphic features— to make the viewing experience fun and educational for all ages!

Three super-talented HIP Corp students assisted Christina with the installation—THANK YOU Bhakti, Yohenny and Tatiana! A few HIP Summer Camp students and HIP Corp alum also helped with preparing the wall and grid at the start of the project.

We are grateful to Congressman Matt Cartwright for his support of HIP’s Eradicating Food Insecurity Grant.

We are excited to share this mural with the hundreds of children and community members that attend HIP’s programming and events.
